German experts will show a successful path for Kryvyi Rih

With the assistance of the Investment and Local Economic Development Program of the City Development Institution, a delegation from the Federal Republic of Germany arrived in Kryvyi Rih with Consul General Stefan Keil. The purpose of the visit is to sign an agreement on cooperation with our city in the implementation of the pilot project "Kryvyi Rih – the transformation of mono-cities and industrial territories of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast".

What is the future of the single-industry cities? For those for whom the industry is above all. This topic was the main one at the international meeting of the Mayor and the delegation of the Federal Republic of Germany headed by the Consul General.

Among the participant, there were representatives of city authorities, NGOs, scientists. Kryvyi Rih became a pilot project for the transformation of mono-cities and industrial areas of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. The goal is to create strategies for the development of small and medium-sized businesses, promote public initiatives, and develop mass sports. The tasks included the construction of a plant for processing solid waste in Kryvyi Rih and the continuation of processes for thermal modernization of budget buildings in the city.

"The purpose of this project is to form a detailed plan for the economic transformation of Kryvyi Rih for the period up to 2030. It will increase the competitiveness of our city's economy and the quality of life of residents," the Mayor of Kryvyi Rih said.

For the practical implementation of the pilot project, specialists should be involved who have the necessary experience and management competencies, the so-called cases of transformation of territories. Germany has come a long way in this direction.

"I am very pleased to be participating in the first meeting of this pilot project, and I am very pleased that it will be implemented in cooperation with partners such as the Hanns Seidel Foundation. And I would like to say that we really have a very respectable experience that we can to share in the transformation of mono-cities. For example, our Wolfsburg," Stefan Keil said, Consul General of Germany in Ukraine.

Foreign guests emphasized that they are connected with Kryvyi Rih by long-standing and quite productive cooperation. Therefore, there is no doubt about the intention to participate in the pilot project.

The participants of the meeting signed a memorandum of cooperation. After the official part, the first working meeting was held with the main message that the monofunctionality of industrial cities should not be an obstacle to its investment attractiveness and comfort of residents.
