Introduction of inclusive education
In Kryvyi Rih, Special special classes and groups are opened for the social adaptation of children with special needs. Also, a modern inclusive rehabilitation centre operates in the city. To cover the inclusive education of young Kryvyi Rih residents as much as possible, Mayor Kostiantyn Pavlov instructed the Department of Education and Science to work on the issue of opening another such centre.
Currently, there are 101,000 children aged 2 to 18 in Kryvyi Rih, 18% of them with special needs, which is 18,284 children. Over the last three years, the percentage of boys and girls having special educational needs has remained unchanged.
During a field workshop on the further development of inclusive education in the city, Mayor Kostisntyn Pavlov visited the Inclusive Resource Center №1, which educates children with special needs. "Everything that concerns children always has a special priority. No child should feel "different". After visiting the centre, we saw that it is interesting, there is a serious material base, there work professional specialists, children are engaged with great pleasure. And now we are carefully considering the opening of the second such centre in Ternivskyi district.
The newly created centre will become another element of a single inclusive system. It will provide children having special educational needs with qualitatively new conditions for learning and development. It will also help special Kryvyi Rih residents to find their place in society and realize themselves in adult life," Kostiantyn Pavlov said.
It should be noted that there are also special classes for special children in secondary schools of Kryvyi Rih. Pupils, in addition to education, receive correctional services. Inclusive classes have been opened in 46 schools with 264 pupils and 192 special children in kindergartens.
